What is a fine art photography?

Fine art photography is more than great images. Fine art photography is art that can be placed in a Museum and will be admired with awe. Every image is scrutinized for detail, color, perspective and effect.

We have been to Africa and Australia to shoot animals in their own habitat. We have converted these images into fine art pieces. We have displayed and sold our work in art shows for the last ten years. We have sold these fine art pieces and recouped the cost of the trips and more.

The sales of our images have demonstrated that our work is worthy of hanging in our customers' homes. This is very special to us. We thank all those who have purchased from us. We thank our customers for hanging our prints in their home.

Who are we? We are photographers that have pounded the pavement and proved that our images are worthy of display and critique.

We very much would like you to experience our form and style. Creation is not easy. A blank slate is so empty. Allow us to fill that blank slate with character, feelings and emotion.

The Shelter Pet Project

Gilbert & Kelly Vela are DOS VELAS IMAGES. Both are accomplished photographers in their own right but teamed up together they bring HOPE to shelter animals through their photography.

The Velas started exhibiting their fine art in 2002, they are recognized for their nature photography, with specialties in hummingbirds & African wildlife. They have shown successfully at such high end art shows as Art Under the Umbrellas in La Quinta, Sierra Madre Art Festival, San Dimas Western Art Show and other annual shows, winning numerous awards. They were major participants at Riversides Arts Walk from 2006 to 2010, curating monthly art shows.

In 2012 they started donating their time & took their mobile photo studio out to local shelters to create unforgettable adoption portraits.
